I really don't feel like doing much of anything today. Yes, you could say I've got a case of the Mondays. Or you could say I'm just depressed that another weekend has come and gone and now I'm back to the monotonous grind of work with the next break being an agonizing 5 days away. The Mondays probably sounds better.
It's tough to deal with depression, whether it's clinical or simply Monday induced, and still keep at this blog. But then I pretend that there may be people who depend on this to get them through their days. And being the type who always likes to please others, I push on.
So for you, Mr. or Mrs. Reader-Who-Needs-A-Shot-Of-QuickPE-On-An-Almost-Daily-Basis-To-Cure-What-Ails-You , I present my 5 least favorite things about today (so far).
1. Waking Up
I had already practiced that one several times throughout the night, but when it came time for the real thing I was completely unprepared. I think it's time to change the alarm sound. It's amazing how you can become so accustomed to the most annoying alarm. Maybe it's time to switch game plans. How about putting an alarm clock in the bathroom which, at the selected time, begins to speak in a sexy voice, luring you out of bed with the promise of sex and pizza? I'll have R&D get on that one right away!
2. Getting Dressed
I'll admit, I have not bought any new clothes since 2005. I've got a closet full of "when I lose weight" outfits. You know, I think I might as well just throw in the towel, buy a couple of muumuus, and shave 10 minutes off my morning routine. "Ananakooli, Makawani, Ana-ona, Nanawula Wa, Hawaii!"
3. Driving To Work
OK, this one isn't too bad. Aside from the usual complaints of drivers who have placed their heads up their asses and how much gas I actually used to get here (stupid gas prices), it's one of the few relaxing moments I get in the day. My disappointment would be that it doesn't take longer to get to work. Oh, and that there was now in-transit breakfast served on this trip.
4. Sitting Down At My Desk
Here's where the reality of bolting out of here on Friday comes to slap me in the half-awake face. Why did I leave all this stuff unfinished? Remind me to leave myself a note should I ever perfect time travel:
"Dear QuickPE,
On the Friday that I leave work early at 3:30 PM you will be overwhelmed with work the following Monday. Please take whatever precautions are necessary to prevent this terrible disaster.
Your Friend,
Chris
5. Looking At The Clock And Realizing It Is Only 7:15 am
Seriously?? I swear I've been here for 8 hours already! I've got to start writing longer blog entries...
Happy Monday, Reader(s)!
